Great Boots from Sam Edelman

I'm not usually into suede because it gets dirty so easily, but these are real show-stoppers from Sam Edelman! They remind me of some of the stuff we wore in the late 60s- early 70's. I think I had a suade jacket that had similar fringe on the sleeves!

Great leather jacket at a great price!

Last year I had this really great motorcycle jacket that I bought on clearance sale for about $50. My eleven-year-old son liked it also, and I think that one time when he wore it, it got lost or stolen. I am thinking about getting this one which is a great deal at www.Leatherup.com. It's only about $70 right now.

It's fall and I'm in the mood to wear boots!

I have been looking at boots for fall and I saw these Doc Martins at Macys. It looks like they are having a sale today on boots, buy one get one free. I particularly like the tallest one with lots of buckles. I would feel like a total rock star wearing those! Unfortunately, I like the style but the few times I've tried on Doc Martins they make my feet look huge, like I am wearing Frankenstein boots. They are also kind of expensive for my budget.

I still like Cowboy boots

Even though they are not exactly in style now, I have always liked cowboy boots and have worn them since I was a little girl. Not only are they good-looking and comfortable, but they are very practical for living in a small rural own. They are also great for all seasons, except the hottest days of summer. These boots are from Ariat, Corral and Lucchese and are available at www.sheplers.com

What I wore today

I really like the bright colors in this hat and sweater. Everyone kept asking me if I was making a political statement - I'm not! I knitted this sweater myself based on a pattern in a punk rock knitting book. The hat was purchased several years ago at an art fair and was made by a Columbus Ohio artist.

I like this girl's style

I like everything about this girl's look. The flowers in her hair. The platinum blond hair color. Her red lips and bold eye makeup, The colorful scarf. The cool biker chick jacket. The bright red shoes. The only thing I'm not sure would work for me is the dress with horizontal stripes. It's something that I wouldn't have thought of, but now I'm thinking that I might be interested in trying something like this if i were to see a skirt or dress like this on sale. The flowers in the hair reminds me a little of Frida Kahlo, who is one of my favorite artists.

House is one of my favorite TV shows

I like this picture from last week's TV guide. Are there any other House fans out there? Hugh Laurie is now my favorite actor on one of my favorite TV shows. I like him because he is smart, witty, good-looking and complicated. I particularly liked last season's final episode where he was involved in Amber's death. If you've never seen the show, it might take a while to understand the story and the characters at this point.

Real motorcycle boots

There have been a lot of motorcycle boots on the runways this season. I really like the look, but buying from a big fashion designer is definitely outside my budget. I'm thinking about getting some real motorcycle boots from somebody like Harley-Davidson, even though I have never riden a motorcycle. They are definitely more "authentic" and I would imagine that they are much more reasonably priced.

Obama comes to my hometown!

Last Friday Obama came to speak in my old home town of Chillicothe, Ohio. Although I could see him, he was too far away for me to get a good photo. I really like this picture of me and my dad.

Victoria's Secret has wide leg jeans

A couple of days ago I was searching the internet for some baggier jeans like I had seen recently in the news on celebrities like Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham. Thanks to the Asian Cajuns (blog at www.asiancajuns.blogspot.com) for telling me to check with Victorias Secret. I don't usually shop at this store, but I might if I decide to buy some in the near future. I noticed that one of these was called the "70's jean." I was in high school during the 70's and maybe that's one reason I like this style. I am also fairly tall and broad shouldered, and this style usually suits my body shape.

Hel-looks.com blog features black leather jackets

It looks like a lot of people are wearing black leather jackets in Finland these days. Some of the people look so great, it makes me proud to say that I am part Finnish. Does anybody know where I can find these wide-leg pants in the US?

I like Pink's style

I really like Pink's style. Not just her hairstyle, but I love her tough, yet approachable persona. On the recent MTV music award she gave a super-cool performance where she would simply snap her fingers and stuff would blow up. She was a real bad-ass, and I loved it. I hope that we will be able to enjoy her performances for years to come.

If I were to pick a style icon, its Gwen Stefani

Although I don't know any of her songs, if I had to pick a celebrity as my style icon, it would be Gwen Stefani. Although I'm quite a bit older, I have bleached blond hair and sometimes like to wear bright red lipstick. I also am partial to the glam rock chick style that she is known for.
