The Alabama Stitch Book is awesome

Natalie "Alabama" Chanin has been one of my favorite American designers, ever since I discovered her in Vogue magazine.  She was a finalist for a design award.  I bought her book called "Alabama Stitch Book" over the weekend and it looks really good.  I've always wondered how she got the fabric with the cool designs.  She explains how to make some of her designer fabrics and clothing in your own home.  There are actual stencils and paper sewing patterns included in the book.  I can't wait to make some of the clothes.  All photos are from www.alabamachanin.com.

Congratulations to Natalie Chanin of the designer label Alabama Chanin! Natalie is a second-time CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist (her first time was in 2005 when the company was called Project Alabama). Natalie's picture is featured along with the nine other finalists in this months (November 2009) Vogue Magazine.

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund has been established for the purpose of generating sufficient income each year to fund significant financial awards to one or more designers and provide business mentoring. For more information, see their website at http://www.cfda.com/.
According to their website at http://www.alabamachanin.com/, "Alabama Chanin is a lifestyle company that focuses on creating an array of products through focusing on slow design and sustainability.
