American Visionary Art Museum

A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit Baltimore Maryland for some shopping and sight seeing. The most interesting place I went was the American Visionary Art Museum. The mosaics pictured here are on the outside of the building. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take pictures on the inside.

This was my kind of place! The gift store was outstanding, with all kinds of kooky jewelry and gifts. A lot of the art was by what they call "outsiders" which usually means that they were self-taught and not affiliated with any art school.

I highly recommend this place to anyone going to Baltimore!

Moschino Spring 2009 Collection

I found a lot to like in Moschino's Spring 2009 collection. The bright colors, crazy sunglasses, feminine dresses and platform shoes, all made me wish I had a spring garden party to dress for! Where are the lace gloves?

Naeem Khan has beautiful asian style

Yesterday when I was surfing the internet I discovered the Spring 2009 collection of designer Naeem Khan.

I wish that I could wear something like this without looking totally out of place!

These dresses remind me of when I lived in Malaysia, and many ladies wore beautiful silk dresses everyday, and did not look out of place.

How cool is this?

I first saw these posted on the Style Bubble blog and I thought this was one of the most clever accessories that I have seen lately. They are from Posso the Spat at www.possothespat.com. For people like me who don't get to the big city that often, they are available on a couple of internet boutiques. They are not cheap, but if you're willing to spend a bit to have something unusual, these are really great!

Rachel Maddow in Vogue

I saw this picture in the latest Vogue magazine, and I love this woman's style! She is TV news personality Rachel Maddow, and she looks simultaneously beautiful, cool, androgenous and slightly geeky.

I wonder if I could pull off this outfit looking so great?

Great British designer Emma Cook

Thanks to The Clothes Horse blog for turning me on to this designer. I love the patterned tights. I have worn black tights with patterns for years, even when they were not particularly in style. I also love the military inspired hats and coats. I reminds me of the German uniforms that Tom Cruise wore in the movie Valkyrie, which I saw last night. It appears that German officers of WWII were a pretty stylish bunch, with there well tailored wool coats and shiny black leather boots. Anyway, this is a spring style that I might be interested in trying for myself.
