Christian Dior: inspired by belly dancers?

These styles from Christian Dior's resort collection in 2008 and 2008 appear to be inspired by belly dancers.  Lots of glitter and jewels, flowy fabrics.

Velvet Peacock Designs

I love belly dance clothing.  One of the main reasons I started to take lessons is so that I would have an excuse to wear these beautiful and outrageous costumes. Most of the best designers are also dancers, which is important, because they know how the clothes move when you are wearing them.

Teo Jasmin Boutique has great Pop Culture Decor

Sorry its been so long since I've posted anything new, but I've been too busy with my "real" job of being a university marketing professor.

Here's some stuff from a company that I really like.  Unfortunately, they are in France and I have been told that it is extremely expensive to have anything shipped from there to the United State.  However, my European readers might be interested.

Teo Jasmin is a Parisian boutique and website at http://www.teojasmin.com/.  They specialize in cool pop culture figures like Superman, Wonder Woman, Bridget Bardot, James Dean, the Beatles, etc.  They carry bags, framed wall hangings, and sofas with these charcters on them.  Here are some photos from their website.

The Mad Hatter would wear these with pride!

I'm realy looking forward to seeing Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in the new Alice in Wonderland movie. The costumes, scenery and bright colors look really awesome in the previews! I wish I was going to the Kentucky Derby or some other event where I wouldn't look totally out of place wearing these hats. I mean, come on. People at the local Walmart might stare! These hats are from an English designer called Eleda, and I got these photos from http://www.samuelshats.com.

Betsey Johnson's still got it!

I always like the most eccentric designers. I just nfound these pictures on style.com, and I really like this collection. Betsey Johnson has been around for years, and I think that this is one of her best collections in years. Usually, her clothes look like they are only for teenagers, but there are some things in this collection that I would love to have, and at the age of 50, would not feel too silly being seen in them. I had hoped to make it to fashion week in person this year, but decided it was too expensive. Oh well, I'm still hoping to get there one of these days.
