Interior design on dresses by Mary Katrantzou

This designer was inspired to draw the interiors of houses on her dresses from looking at pictures in Archetechtural Digest magazine.  they are kind of busy, and would out of place in my small town, but I appreciate the innovation anyway!

Drawings of Katniss Everdeen, Heroine of The Hunger Games book

I've read a lot of good books this summer, but one of the best is the Hunger Games Trilogy.  My son read The Hunger Games as part of a seventh grade reading class and he told me it was the best book he ever read, so I decided to check it out.  I agree that it's a great story.  I don't want to give too much away, for those of you who haven't read it yet.  Although some of the story is sad and tragic, there are some happy and lighthearted moments as well.

Some of the most humorous parts of the story in my opinion are about Katniss and her stylists.  Yes, even kids being sent to their death have to look great on TV!  The book describes some really great outfits that are designed for Katniss by her lovable designer Cinna, who is one of her greatest friends and allies.  I found some fan drawings of Katniss on http://www.fanpop.com/ and thought I would share some here.

Oscar de la Renta Resort 2011

Every piece in this collection is just gorgeous.  Too bad I can't afford to buy even one.  The best I can hope for is to find some similar pieces at stores like JC Penneys.

Beautiful gray haired model

I found this picture on the Sea of Shoes blog at seaofshoes.com, and is an ad from Chanel.  It's rare to see a beautiful woman who is not that young flaunting her long grey hair.  It makes me think again about covering mine.

Shakti active wear has the cutest tops for yoga

This summer I am continuing to teach Zumba.  I am also taking belly dance and yoga.  I just started taking a beginning class in Tai Chi.  I love to weat pretty work out clothes and I am getting tired of the plain-looking exercise clothes available at the local Walmart in this small town.  I don't own any of these yet, but they look very cute.

Vivienne Westwood's Red Label collection 2010

Anyone who reads this blog knows that Vivienne Westwood is my favorite designer.  I think most of all, I really like Vivienne herself, and her designs look like the embodiment of her life and personality.  These clothes definitely have an English look to them.  Some look like soccer uniforms that were altered and embellished by artsy punky people.  I also really like the drapiness of many of the clothes and fabrics.  I hope that I can be half as successful in old age as Vivienne. (I'm fifty years old now!)
