Rodarte's Fall 2009 Collection is artsy and original

These two sisters come up with some really clever stuff! These beautiful dresses look like handmade collage art, incorporating knitting, leather and some other materials I can't identify. I would probably not wear something like this, but it is very pretty to look at. I might be willing to try the PVC leggings if I had the right tunic top to wear it with. (Photos from www.style.com)

Ever heard of reverse graffiti?
Remember that stupid old joke where people write "wash me" in dirt on a car. Well this is definitely an improvement on that old technique. I COULD HARDLY BELIEVE MY EYES WHEN i FIRST SAW THESE. These pictures were actually drawn only using artisits brushes and plain old dirty windows.
The only problem is that after all of that work, a good rainstorm could wash it away. I guess that's why the guy took pictures. This technique is called reverse graffiti, and apparently is being used by advertisers in Europe. The artist who did these pictures is Scott Wade and you can see these pictures and more at www.environmentalgraffiti.com.

Newport News has really great deals on bathing suits

These lovely bathing suits are from www.newportnews.com. I just checked out the site this morning and they have some great deals on swimsuits of all kinds - most are between $25 and $50.
I bought several swimsuits from them about six years ago and they have held up pretty well. I can personally vouch for the fact that these are very good quality suits for the money. I have gotten many compliments on the suits that I bought from them a few years ago.

They even have fashion bicycles at trekbikes.com!

Have you noticed that bicycles have become have become a fashion statement in some of those European street photos? Well, I noticed and I thought that if I had a really stylish bike, maybe I would be motivated to get out and ride it.
I happened to see this Trek bicycle at my local bike shop the other day, and I can't stop thinking about it. It's hard to tell from this photo, but it has some beautiful flowery designs on it.
I would feel really beautiful riding around the neighborhood on this! I also live very close to an extremely nice bike path that goes through the park and out to the Walmart store.
I'm trying to convince myself that it is worth the $540 price tag, which is not that bad for a Trek bicycle. For further information, you can go to www.trekbikes.com. This model is part of their women's line and is called the 7200 WSD.
1HUND(RED) shoes are really cool!

What a great idea! For Converse' 100th anniversary, they are asking 100 artists around the world to design a shoe. All of the profits go to The Global Fund, which provides money to fight AIDS in Africa.
Their idea was to show how art and creativity can change the world.
After seeing sneakers worn with formal wear at the Grammy awards the other night, I have been thinking about how iconic sneakers have become, especially Converse and Chuck Taylors. I'm starting to wish that I could afford to collect all one hundred pairs!

Looks like a great deal on www.directsattv.com!
This is not directly about art or fashion but I happened to notice that there are some great offers at www.directsattv.com. There are many different plans, but they are now offering over 130 HD channels for $23 off per month for a whole year.
Currently, I have Time Warner Cable and since it is the only cable service available in my area, I have never really taken the time to compare it with other providers.
The website seems very informative. If you go to http://www.directsattv.com/directtv/comparecable.html, you can put in your current cable company and they will compare what you are currently getting with what you could get through Direct Sat TV (an authorized provider or Directv).
I went to http://www.directsattv.com/directtv/directtv_vs_timewarner.html and they gave very detailed information about the differences. It looks like I can get a lot more channels for the price I am currently paying Time Warner cable.
This website makes it very easy to compare your current service with Direct Sat TV, and it looks like they can beat out most of the competitors!

Sneakers at the Grammys? What's going on?

Are sneakers the new formal wear? I like the funkiness of these three outfits, but I 'm not sure its "appropriate" to wear sneakers to formal affairs. Readers, what do you think? Is is somehow disrespectful, or does it reflect the rock and roll influence on the industry?
I particularly like the sneakers in bright colors!
Fashiontoast.com is a great blog!

Thanks to Susie Bubble at the Style Bubble blog for referring me to www.fashiontoast.com. This blog has the latest styles and great photography. I wish I could afford to buy all of the stuff this girl wears! Check it out for yourself!

Belly dancing costumes are so glamorous!

Last night I received my first belly dance instructional DVD in the mail and I spent some time trying to imitate the dancers. Fairly quickly, I realized how out of shape I am and I felt totally awkward compared to the beautiful and graceful women in the video. Belly dancing is harder than it looks!
I am pleased with the DVD, which is the Bellydance superstars introduction to bellydance, that I purchased from dancingrahana.com. It seems reasonably easy for beginners to follow. I really enjoyed myself, but I was glad that no one else was watching yet!
I'm not sure if I'm ready yet to invest in a costume. I'm still looking at my options, and trying to decide which ones I might want to get and how much to spend. Simplicity patterns also has several good bellydance costume patterns that I might start with. These pictures are from http://store.egyptioan-princess.com.
