Balmain's Spring Collection is Rock Chick's dream

I have loved the rock chick look for years, and tend to wear this style a lot. I love Balmain's latest colection because it looks like my style, but I'm inspired to add some new touches. I absolutely love the rhinestone sandals. If they are not available in my price range, I might try to make something similar!

Project Runway: Kurto wins, Suede offed

Last night was a fun competition on Project Runway. The designers were each assigned to design an outfit for one of the other designers that was inspired by a music genre. The winning designer was Kurto, who designed the punk rock outfit modeled by Suede. Suede was eliminated because his design for Jerell was not considered to be very creative or exciting. I thought Kenley should have been eliminated. She designed an outfit for Leeann that was supposed to be hip hop, but it didn't look at all hip hop, and the pants were poorly fitted. I am somewhat sorry to see Suede go. I always thought he had such a pleasant personality.

Gucci has beautiful pantsuits for "real women"

I love a lot of clothes that I'm seeing on the runway for spring, but there are not that many that I would actually wear. I love these outfits partly because I could imagine myself wearing them, or possibly something similar but less expensive. I love the bright colored jeans and matching jackets with the fedora. The ankle strap sandals are beautiful with the rest of the outfit.

Diane Von Furstenburg has beautiful colors and prints for Spring

Looking at Diane Von Furstenburg's spring collection makes me want to have a fancy garden tea party, with white gloves. The colors and flowery prints are beautiful and the headpieces remind me of something that a pretty summer bride might wear. Almost makes me wish I was getting married (again!)

What's with the Mary Poppins hats?

O.K... I admit I like some pretty eccentric stuff, but I'm not sure about these Mary Poppins hats, seen first at Marc Jacobs and now at Moschino Cheap and Chic. I just can't imagine myself wearing this style of hat. Also, they seem to be sitting in a not-so-secure position on the head, like you might need a lot of pins to keep them at the proper angle. I don't think you'll see me sporting this trend in the spring.

Punk rock Nails

I love to try different nail colors and decorations. Getting my nails done is always a nice relaxing activity and I really enjoy looking at them. I also get lots of compliments on my nails which also makes me feel good. These were created at the salon by painting the nails black and then airbrushing on the design in white.

Passion Works Studio

One of the most popular organizations in my town is called the Passion Works studio, which employs developmentally disabled adults. They work with professional artists and make some of the coolest stuff around. There metal sculpture "Passion Flowers" are probably their most popular product and are often seen around this town. Check out their website at http://www.passionworks.org/.

I love Luella

I was not familiar with Luella, but when I saw this spring collection I was blown away! I love the bright colors, the mixture of prints and the eccentric style. It might be fun to try find some similar sewing patterns to try to recreate this look.

What I wore today

Here's what I'm wearing today. My eleven year old son took this picture of me at the local Bob Evans restaurant where we often go for breakfast before school. The jacket I'm wearing is from Liz Claiborne and I purchased it at a local thrift store. The cross necklaces were bought at a local novelty shop and I was inspired to buy them after seeing a necklace from Chanel that had large sparkly crosses on it. The boots were a gift from my aunt and there is no brand name on them, so I'm not sure where they came from. The purse is made by London fog and I bought it from the Boston Proper catalog.

More of my personal style

I've been in the mood to knit lately, but I don't always feel like the traditional designs are really "me." Here is a sweater that I knitted recently, from a pattern in the "Stitch and Bitch Nation" book by Debbie Stoller. I'm almost finished with a black and white sweater that has a silhouette of a face on it, kind of like a lot of t-shirts you see now.

Yesterday I posted a picture of myself and showed a bit of what I was wearing. I got busy taking more pictures yesterday, and thought that I would show a bit more about my style.

I'm one of these people who regularly gets acrylic nails, and I love to have them done in different colors every couple of weeks. Right now, I happen to be wearing a fancy, handpainted design. I like it so much that I'm already starting to think about a design for the next time.

Artsy geometric necklace

I love to find stuff in fashion magazines and then attempt to recreate the look for less. Her is a necklace that I saw on the Facehunter blog. It looks like something that you could make out of fabric or leather and I love the geometric shapes. it seems right in style with the large statement-making necklaces that I've been seeing in the magazines lately. Just one more thing on my list of stuff to make "one of these days when I have more time. "

My personal style

When I started this blog I was planning to have more original content, such as my own drawings and creative ideas. Unfortunately, I get busy with other things, like working and raising an eleven year old son. Today I asked our department secretary if she could take my picture, so I could show off what I'm wearing today. I like to wear black jeans and t-shirts, and today I sporrting a rock chick look. The t-shirt I'm wearing is from Target and has a silver chandelier on it. It goes just right with the two silver chain necklaces I'm wearing. I also have new glasses from Vera Wang.

More artsy prints by Naeem Khan

Although I don't know where I would actually wear such a thing, I love the colorful patterned fabrics of these dresses. They remind me a little bit of folk costumes from Mexico. You can almost imagine Frida Kahlo wearing something like this!

Zac Posen's Luminous Spring 2009 Collection

One of these days it would be so exciting to actually go to fashion week in New York, but in the mean time, I'm glad that you can look at the pictures for free on sites like elle.com and style.com.

I really love this collection. The floaty ruffled dresses are beautiful. I particularly like the make up. So luminous it looks like it might glow in the dark. I would love to know what products they used so I could try to get this wonderful glow. I especially like the shiny purple lipstick. It looks great on the girls with darker skin.

Also love the hairstyles all huge chandelier earrings. It goes great with the rest of the outfit.

Hurray for Zac Posen!
