Columbus (Ohio) Art Festival

Here are some of my favorite pictures taken at the Columbus Art Festival this past weekend. The quality of the art was very high, and most of it was pretty expensive! They moved it this year to the downtown area, and it was a lot easier to find a parking place nearby.

Record Album Cover purse

This past weekend I went to the Columbus, Ohio Art Festival. While I was there I saw this great purse, and I just had to have it! This is an actual album cover that's been laminated. This was the first record album I ever had and my Dad got it for me when I was in kindergarten, which was around 1964. I had this album for many years and played it over and over again.

Oslo Stil girl

I love this girl! This is how I like to dress sometimes on the weekends. Love the colored glasses, graphic design tee, bright-colored jeans and converse sneaks. After seeing this, I'm more excited about having time off this summer so I can dress however I like!

Seeing this makes me wonder if I should also get the tattoos on the one arm. I might if I looked this cool!

Styleclicker blog Superheroes

Check out the recent posting on the Styleclicker blog! They have some very cool people modeling in front of very large comic-style pictures. I wish I would have thought of this idea! (Where did they get these cute guys?)

Kaboodle.com spring dress contest

Hey, I noticed that Kaboodle.com is running a best spring dress competition, and it looks like there's some really great entries. As of today, you can still go there to vote for your favorite. I picked several that I liked to post here. Of course, I tend to prefer the ones that are more original and/or handmade. There's some great inspiration here for sewing projects!

Amy Butler retro-style fabrics

This morning while I was exploring the internet for new ideas, I came across a fabric designer that I really like on Fabric.com. Amy Butler has a wide assortment of mod and retro style cotton fabrics and some great patterns for purses, skirts and more that look great with her fabrics. I am thinking about getting some to make my own customized Converse chuck taylor shoes. Wouldn't they be just the greatest?

Craftzine handmade shoes

If you love shoes and crafts, the latest issue of craftzine is for you! They have some great instructions for making several kinds of shoes, including hand-knitted Converse chuck taylors. Some of the shoes require special tools, but others look fairly easy. I am thinking about trying to make a knitted pair like the ones in the picture. I am considering using a different kind of yarn though. They recommend using a cheap acrylic yarn, but that yarn often does not look very good after a couple of wears. I am not sure if cotton yarn is a good alternative because it stretches out too easily. Wool has natural elasticity, but is too warm for this time of year. I'm not sure what kind of fiber I'm going to use.
