Well, Project Runway is back at 9pm on Wednesday nights on the Bravo channel. You can also get pictures and other highlights at www.bravotv.com. The new group of designers are very talented and most of the clothes were pretty cute. The first challenge was to make a dress from stuff bought in a grocery store. Most of the designers bought tableclothes and incorporated them into the design somewhere. The winner bought vacuum cleaner bags and coffee filters and hand dyed them to make the cute dress shown here.
I love this girl's look. The hair style is really artistic and the skirt looks new and hip with its shorter length and silver-button belt. I have an old pleated skirt from a thrift store that I am inspired to hem shorter and add some buckles and studs to make it look "in" for the fall season!
Even though I don't know where I would ever wear such a thing, I absolutely love the dramatic eye makeup that I've been seeing lately in the fashion magazines. Some of the greatest false eyelashes are made by Shu Uemura and are available in the US at www.shuuemura-usa.com. Here's some examples:
Check this out! I was talking to my cousin today and he asked if I had ever seen any 3D chalk art, and I said I'd never heard of it. We looked this up on the internet and I was totally amazed. This guy Beever is an English artist and draws these pictures on sidewalks, mostly in England and in Europe. There is also at least one film of him actually drawing on Youtube. In order to get the 3D effect, the pictures have to be viewed from just the right angle.
I just dicovered a fashion designer that I absolutely love! Tsumori Chisato has some of the most original clothing I've seen lately. The fabrics appear to be hand painted with modern art style graphics in bright colors, and the shapes of the garments are also quite unusual. And check out the matching shoes! I've never seen anything like it! It looks like super really talented and beautiful aliens just landed from another planet. Check out these photos from her Spring 2008 collection that I got at elle.com.
